Hello,

What with all the rumors, scares, and real problems with Facebook, here is a really simple way to pare down on the data in your profile.
Go into your profile and for anything you shouldn't have put there to begin with, like your address and phone number, simply replace the text in the fields with all 0s - the hash tag #000 on Twitter will hopefully get some airplay on this.
If you're like me and haven't added a phone number, an address, or something along those lines, you're safe.
Facebook will keep your data even if you leave Facebook, but it doesn't keep every piece of data. So, if you have your phone number set to a real number, then change it to all 0000s, the 0000 data is now what Facebook has.
Remember to do this before you quit Facebook, if tht's what you're going to do. Also if you are getting notifications from applications you don't want in your news feed, be sure to uninstall the application if you installed it, and block the application. You can always block them.
There is more to this story, and I will try and keep these boards updated because I need to for my family / extended relatives and the like, from the seasoned user to the young and very foolish.

And DO NOT GEOLOCATE!
I mean the real geolocation of course, but also those silly posts of 'Oh I'm at the ... club, and I think I forgot to lock lock my door!' Lmfaoo!
If you do, you may end up with something to 'Lmfaoo' about ... people have been broken into doing this. If you're over thirty and wonder why I would even mention this, you simply don't have any Facebook contacts under 25 or thereabouts, who all seem to think that's normal ...
